Day One: Preview & How To Watch Live

The German Open 2024 – Presented by Sportwerk kicks off today, with first-round action from the PSA World Tour Bronze event getting underway from Hamburg.

Play from The Sportwerk Centre Glass Court starts at 12:00 (GMT+2), with action from Court 3 and Court 9 beginning at 17:00 (GMT+2). All three courts will be available to watch live on SQUASHTV.

Day one will see four home players looking to book their spots in the second round, with Wildcards Maya Weishar and Valentin Rapp taking to the Glass Court against Spain’s Marta Dominguez and Portugal’s Rui Soares, respectively. World No.62 Saskia Beinhard will also play on the showpiece court, facing Egypt’s Rana Ismail, while Court 3 will see German Wildcard Katerina Tycova look to mark her position in the main draw with a win.

Elsewhere, former World No.1 James Willstrop returns to PSA World Tour action against compatriot Tom Walsh in the last match of the evening on Court 9, while Switzerland’s Yannick Wilhelmi and Mazen Gamal will contest the final match on the Glass Court.

English teenagers Torrie Malik and Asia Harris will look to build upon impressive 2023/24 seasons when they face Malaysia’s Yiwen Chan and Germany’s Tycova, while Nardine Garas will look to recapture the form that took her to the Odense Open 2024 title last month. Garas, 20, will open her account against Kaitlyn Watts of New Zealand.

In total, 16 matches will be played across the three courts, with the seeded players then scheduled to enter the draw on day two of the event.
